About Father Jerry Bevilacqua, O.S.A.

Father Jerry Bevilacqua was ordained for the Order of Saint Augustine in 1965. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy, and Master's Degrees in Religious Education, Library Science, and Psychological Counseling. He has done advanced studies in Biblical Greek and Theology.

Teaching high school for eleven years has contributed to Father's enthusiastic teaching style. The oldest of five children, family retreats, youth ministry in a Bible class, and three years as an assistant pastor has sensitized Father Jerry to the needs of families. On the other hand, Father has spent considerable time in solitude pursuing the contemplative journey. Having published a pamphlet on the names of God, and an award winning column in the local San Diego Catholic paper for many years is another way the Lord has worked through this man to spread the Word of God. Father's own joy is in the many years of Bible teaching and study. His depth in the Word of God has made his tape ministry a popular tool for spreading the Kingdom of God.

Father has given retreats and workshops throughout the United States for the past thirty years. The Lord uses him in inner healing, building community through repentance and conversion, and in physical restoration.

Presently Father's gifts are being focused by the Lord on contemplative retreats given in a quiet habitat in the high desert sixty miles east of San Diego. These six day retreats have been the occasion for Jesus to turn human misery into divine joy.
